Children with special needs can now borrow a bike designed to give them their first taste of the freedom of cycling thanks to a unique Edmonton program. We will launch our borrow-an-adapted bike program with a bike rodeo:

  • Date: Saturday May 11, 2013
  • Time: 11 am to 3 pm
  • Location: Elves Special Needs Society, 10419 159 Street

You Can Ride Two is an Edmonton-based partnership between pediatric physiotherapists, occupational therapists and the Edmonton Bicycle Commuters’ Society (EBC). The program, initially developed to teach children with special needs to ride a two-wheeler, has expanded to all forms of cycling thanks to several bike and monetary donations and partnerships with other community agencies.

From wheelchair to the trails

You Can Bike Too works to increase access to cycling for children unable to ride a standard bicycle. Children are matched with bicycles in our loan pool and modifications are made as needed to ensure the bike is best suited to each child.
