Last summer we were thrilled to learn that we had been approved by Alberta Ecotrust for funding to ramp up our work finding new lives for old bikes. Bikes are incredibly resilient and most can last decades with proper maintenance. Sharing skills and reusing bikes has always been part of our identity.
Whenever you fix and reuse old things you’re participating in the circular economy. That’s a fancy way of saying you keep what already exists in play rather than tossing it out and buying a new one. This saves you money, thwarts waste, and can give you a sense of real ownership that’s often deeper than what you get when you buy something new off the shelf. Alberta Ecotrust sees the benefits of this, and we are tremendously grateful for their support.
Thank you!
And we’re not alone! Alberta Ecotrust funds many other amazing environment and climate projects throughout our province. Check out more of these inspiring initiatives on their website here.
